During the visit the work of the institute and its affiliated company PITSID GmbH were discussed in an open atmosphere. Also, the spokesperson of the ZUSE-Gemeinschaft, an association representing the concerns of state- and company-independent institutes in Germany, took part in the interview. He explained the goals of the association and the request for support within the political administration of Germany.
Different projects were introduced, e. g. the development of a system for measuring opening forces. A member of the institute’s team demonstrated the principle and functionality of the PEEL CONTROL. This device was designed with the needs of the packaging industry in mind. The compact device is particularly suitable for use on-site, e.g. on packaging lines. The forces which occur when opening seam-sealed containers or for separating fused and laminated materials are measured.
